About the Scheme
The scholarship at pre-matric level will encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education. The scheme will form the foundation for their educational attainment and provide a level playing field in the competitive employment arena. Empowerment through education, which is one of the objectives of this scheme, has the potential to lead to upliftment of the socio economic conditions of the minority communities.
Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities 2020-21
Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, invites applications from the students of Class 1 to 10 of minority communities for Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities 2020-21. The scholarship aims to encourage parents of minority communities to send their kids to school by helping them to fund the school education of their children and by supporting the efforts of educating their children.The On-line implementation of Pre-matric, Post-matric and Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship will be done through the common National Scholarship Portal at www.scholarships.gov.in (a link of the site is also made available in the website of this Ministry i.e www.minorityaffairs.gov.in of Mobile App- National Scholarships (NSP).
Only online applications under these Schemes will be accepted and no request for Offline applications will be entertained. It will be necessary for the eligible applicants to provide Aadhaar number, while applying for scholarship and in case an individual does not possess Aadhar one can provide the details of alternate identification documents as stated in the Gazette Notification available on National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Eligibility Pre Matric Scholarship
The academic eligibility criteria for pre-matric Scholarship is 50% or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the income criteria is Rs 1 lakh. The course being pursued should be of minimum one year duration.
➤Must be studying in class 1 to 10
➤Must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous final examination
➤Must have a family income of not more than INR 1 lakh per annum from all sources
➤Must belong to the minority community (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians/Parsis)
Benefits
➤Admission fee for class 6 to 10 (Hostellers and Day Scholars): INR 500 per annum
➤Tuition fee for class 6 to 10 (Hostellers and Day Scholars): INR 350 per month
➤Maintenance allowance for 10 months in an academic year (Day Scholars): INR 100 per month for class 1 to 5
➤Maintenance allowance for 10 months in an academic year (Hostellers): INR 600 per month for class 6 to 10
➤Maintenance allowance for 10 months in an academic year (Day Scholars): INR 100 per month for class 6 to 10
Documents required
➤Domicile Certificate
➤Self-certified community certificate by the student
➤Self-attested copy of previous academic mark sheet
➤Copy of Aadhar Enrollment/Aadhar Card
➤Income certificate issued by a competent authority in the State/UT Government
➤Proof of bank account in the name of the student or joint account with mother/father
How to apply
Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through following steps -
➤Step 1: Visit the homepage of the National Scholarship Portal and click on 'New Registration'.
➤Step 2: Read the guidelines carefully, select the undertaking and 'Continue'.
➤Step 3: Select the state of domicile, scholarship category (Pre Matric), scheme type (scholarship scheme), gender, write the applicant's name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID.
➤Step 4: Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFSC Code, Account Number)
➤Step 5: Select Aadhaar or Bank Account Number as identification detail and click on the 'Register' button.
➤Step 6: The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated.
➤Step 7: Now, log in using OTP and fill the form.
➤Step 8: An application ID and password will be generated. Use that for future references.
The applicants are advised to apply online against any one of the scholarship schemes on the website of National Scholarship Portal. The Scholarship will be provided to only two students of one Parent. A scholarship holder under this Scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the same course/class from any other agency/Department. The Students are advised to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section available on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) homepage of the website for filling up of Online application and greater clarity.
Note: All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill only one application as multiple applications will lead to the cancellation of the form.
